DUNCAN, Okla. — An Oklahoma woman married two of her biological children over the course of eight years.
Police arrested Patricia Ann Spann and her daughter, Misty Velvet Dawn Spann, Wednesday for incest. The two had gotten married in Comanche County, Oklahoma, earlier this year.
According to WCMH-TV, Patricia Spann, 43, lost custody of Misty, 25, and two other children when they were young. The three children were adopted by their grandmother.
Patricia Spann told investigators she didn't have contact with her kids until two years ago, but when she reunited with Misty, she said they "hit it off," WCMH-TV reported.
This is not the first time Patricia Spann has married one of her children. Court records show an annulment between Patricia and her son in 2010. The two married in 2008.
Patricia Spann told officials that said she thought the marriage to her daughter was OK because her name wasn't on her daughter's birth certificate, according to an affidavit.
In Oklahoma, marrying a close relative is considered incest whether, the relationship is sexual or not, and incest is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Bond was set at $10,000 for both Patricia and Misty.
