Coronavirus: Florida girl surprised with virtual ‘Hamilton’ performance after Jacksonville show is postponed

Hamilton cast surprises Florida girl A Florida girl was surprised with a virtual 'Hamilton' performance after the Jacksonville show was postponed.

The coronavirus pandemic has caused several events nationwide, like Hamilton, a Broadway musical, to be postponed or canceled in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Aubrey, a 9-year-old Winter Haven girl and Hamilton fan, was excited to see the performance during the show’s stop in Jacksonville at the Times-Union Center in March, but it was postponed.

Her mother wrote Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Alexander Hamilton actor, on social media saying the Jacksonville March 21 show would have been a birthday present and a dream come true for her daughter, but because of the show being postponed, they decided to watch Mary Poppins Returns.

After the seeing the post on Twitter, The Office actor John Krasinski teamed up with Miranda and set up a special surprise for Aubrey. The original Hamilton cast surprised her by singing her favorite song “Alexander Hamilton” to her virtually using Zoom video-conferencing.

The video was uploaded to YouTube as part of the second episode of Some Good News with John Krasinski on Sunday. Krasinski also surprised Aubrey and her mother with a chance to see Hamilton on Broadway in New York once things return to normal.
