Deputies are searching for a motive after a Bryceville man and his wife were found dead inside their home, according to the sheriff's office.

Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper said deputies went to Tammi Lynn and John Wilson Boyd's home on U.S. Highway 301 Sunday after they didn't show up for a planned dinner date.

Leeper said deputies found them both in the kitchen area. It appeared John Wilson Boyd shot Tammi Lynn Boyd five times before shooting himself in the head, he said.

Tammi Lynn Boyd was a nurse in Jacksonville, and the couple was expecting their first grandchild, according to Leeper.

A Baptist Health spokesperson said Tammi Lynn was a team member for almost 20 years.

Leeper said deputies had never been called to the home for any kind of domestic issue.

The sheriff's office is waiting for autopsy results to determine if drugs or alcohol played a role in the shooting.

Full statement from Baptist Health:

"Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Tammi Boyd. We are deeply saddened by the news of her passing as it was a shock to everyone. She was a valued team member for nearly 20 years and will be greatly missed. We are offering counseling to grieving colleagues."
