Police identified the victims as Bonnie Coker, 54, and her son Eric Boswell, 24.

According to police, Boswell’s co-workers said he didn’t show up to work and wasn’t answering his phone, which was unusual. They went to his apartment unit to check and saw him lying on the floor through the window.

Officers arrived at the scene and found both victims dead with a single gunshot wound each.

Loretta Rahn has lived in the neighborhood for two decades and said it’s usually quiet.

“It was loud. I said, ‘Oh my gosh — it must’ve been something really bad,’” she said, describing officers arriving to the scene. “It’s such a shock. It’s hard to say anything.”

Friends told Action News Jax Boswell was interested in joining the navy.

Police found one handgun at the scene and said there’s no evidence there’s a suspect on the run.

“The St Marys Police Department offers its heartfelt condolences to the families of both victims in their time of loss,” the department said in a statement.
