The family of a man who was shot and killed outside Blind Rabbit in Riverside last year has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the property owner of the restaurant.
Daniel Rowe was shot and killed while taking out the trash at Blind Rabbit last July.
Police said on Monday that charged an inmate with his death. They are still searching for a second suspect.
In a lawsuit filed on July 22, Rowe's parents and fiancée are seeking at least $15,000 in damages in Rowe's death.
The lawsuit claims negligence on part of the owners of the property where Rowe was killed.
It says prior to Rowe's death, numerous incidents of criminal activity occurred on or around the premises.
The lawsuit claims the rproperty owner failed to assess and properly secure common areas at the rear of the property and did not provide adequate lighting.
It says the owners failed to use surveillance cameras or security devices and properly landscape areas where criminal activity can be concealed from view.
