Jacksonville, Fl — The Duval County School Board will hold an emergency meeting at 1:00 pm today to discuss Superintendent Dr. Diana Greene’s contract and the possibility of a new superintendent.
The Board is also planning to discuss other items as it relates to Douglas Anderson School of the Arts.
The school’s former long-time vocal department chair, Jeffrey Clayton, was arrested in March on felony charges of an authority figure soliciting or engaging in lewd conduct with a student and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
Since his arrest, three more teachers have been reassigned for unknown reasons.
Multiple concerns have been expressed regarding the school’s broader institutional problems, as well as the district’s tools for informing the state education department about teacher misconduct.
A regularly scheduled board meeting is scheduled to be held at 6:00 p.m.
In June 2022 the DCPS Board approved a nearly 10% increase in Greene’s pay, to a $300,000 salary. Previously the superintendent in Duval County had been making $275,000 since 2005.
Diana Greene was hired in May 2018, more than a year after Nikolai Viti stepped down to take the top spot in Detroit.
Greene had been the Superintendent in Manatee County, FL.
