Dr. Greene’s early retirement follows the investigation of teacher misconduct at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. Dr. Dana Kriznar was selected to fill the role for the next six months while the school board looks for Greene’s permanent replacement.

School board members approved Kriznar with a 5-2 vote earlier this year. She served as the district’s deputy superintendent until today.

Hiring from within, however, raised some concerns about how current leadership handled the underreporting of teacher misconduct and the investigation into Douglas Anderson. Some DCPS board members agreed with the decision while others did not.

School board member Dr. Charlotte Joyce expressed concern about Kriznar’s promotion during the special meeting to select an interim superintendent.

“Dr. Kriznar is wonderful, but she was in upper leadership during that time,” she said about the underreporting.

Board chair Dr. Kelly Coker, however, countered that argument by saying, “The reality is [that] Dr. Kriznar would not have been knowledgeable about the intimate details of that.”

Finding the district’s next superintendent is a matter the board needed to handle quickly because they have a meeting coming up in just 4 days in which a superintendent has to be present.

Action News Jax will continue to follow the superintendent search and will bring you updates as they become available.
