Jacksonville, FL — Day two is now in the books for Duval County students.

Thousands of them headed to class virtually, using Duval Homeroom.

This afternoon, the Duval County Public School District told Action News Jax the technical issue that prevented some students from accessing their online classes is now fixed.

However, Action News Jax Courtney Cole talks to an 11th grader who told us today was a repeat of yesterday, for her.

“How did today start off for you?” Courtney Cole asked Nevah Waters.

“The same actually. I only had that one class, which was geometry again. And I had nothing else,” Waters said.

Waters, a Terry Parker High School Senior, said she was hoping her second day of classes on Duval Homeroom, would be better than the first.

We first introduced her to you yesterday. She told us she only had access to one of her eight classes.

“I thought they would fix it. They called my mom yesterday and was like, I know we’re having issues, and we’re going to get it fixed,” Waters told Action News Jax.

Yesterday, DCPS told me there was a delay bringing up the Microsoft Teams program. The program allows students to access their online classes.

After e-mailing the district this morning and this afternoon, they responded with this e-mail saying in part: “the issues with teams that we experienced yesterday are fixed.”

A spokesperson said a glitch happened when the technology department did a routine operation to make sure students were synced with their classes.

“We can login, everything is straight when we login but it’s no work on there,” Waters told Action News Jax Courtney Cole.

Waters feels safer learning from home, but still questions her decision to do distance learning.

“[I feel like I made ]The right choice due to Covid, but I feel like I should’ve went back to school. It would’ve been much easier and it wouldn’t have been so stressful,” said Waters.

If any students are still without a laptop or hotspot, the DCPS said you should contact your school.

If you’re still interested in distance learning, Duval Homeroom applications are now being accepted until August 26th.

Duval County Public Schools told Action News Jax, as of yesterday, they were up to 41,035 applications for Duval Homeroom.
