Fire Watch seeking ‘Watch Standers’ to help veterans in crisis, prevent veteran suicide

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Watch FOX30 at 10 for details on how YOU can help save a veteran’s life

The ‘Fire Watch,’ an agency dedicated to preventing veteran suicide in Northeast Florida, is seeking civilians and veterans alike to serve as Watch Standers.

As a Watch Stander, you serve as a friend and mentor to a veteran, and direct them to the support they need.

Fire Watch CEO Nick Howland tells Action News Jax you need only watch a few short training videos, explore a guide of resources available to veterans and sign a pledge.

Howland says Fire Watch has about 600 Watch Standers at this time.

Coronavirus Local Impact: COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy

Their goal is to reach 300 Watch Standers by the end of 2021, and 10,000 by May 2023.
