JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville is getting recognition from Forbes as one of its 25 picks of the “Best Places to Retire in 2023.”
The entire state of Florida only has one pick on the list because Forbes said when making its list, it considers “climate change and natural hazard risks—hurricanes are a big reason why retiree magnet Florida only has one pick (Jacksonville) on our list.”

A popular retirement destination in Central Florida has dropped off the Forbes list because of its housing costs.
“The Villages, a central Florida retirement community that made our last two annual lists, dropped off due to its rising home prices—its median price is now $416,000,” the publication wrote.
According to Forbes, Jacksonville’s median home price is $295,000, 22% below the national median.
