JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE: Police said Tuesday morning they have located the dark Ford Fusion believed to be involved in a Jacksonville father’s murder.

Original Story:

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is searching for a car that may be connected to a recent murder.

It happened around 2 p.m. Friday afternoon at the intersection of Logan and Acorn streets.

JSO said witnesses told police they saw at least two men shoot a man known as “BIM” multiple times.

Police need the public’s help to find a dark Ford Fusion (pictured below) they believe the two suspects drove off in.

The Sheriff’s Office said the car has no distinguishing marks. Police believe it was used during the crime.

Video of the area from Friday show officers collecting evidence and shell casings from the scene.

JSO said they believe the man got in the car and drove a few blocks before crashing after he was shot.

He later died at a hospital.

The shooting happened just a block away from Butler Middle School, which was put on lockdown for a short time.

One neighbor who knew the man told Action News Jax reporter Jamarlo Phillips he heard gunshots, then sirens.

Kavon Price said he was shocked to learn someone who he has known for years is now gone.

“I’m going to miss how he used to look out for the young people in the neighborhood. He always steered us in the right direction and gave us good advice. He wasn’t a bad guy. A family man,” said Price.

According to JSO’s crime mapping data base, there have been 80 crimes reported within a two-mile radius of Logan Street since Jan. 1, 2020.

JSO said there is no immediate threat to the public, but they are asking everyone to stay alert and to be on the lookout for the dark-colored Ford Fusion.

Anyone with information on the shooting should call JSO at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS (8477).
