JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is behind bars after police say he fired a shotgun at officers.
It happened Friday morning in the Mill Creek subdivision on Kendall Drive.
When Jamerson Franklin walked outside his home he saw his street lined with police cruisers and a SWAT team.
“They had the street blocked off right here. They were over at the Seacoast Academy. They had a SWAT unit up there and they blocked off here,” Franklin said.

It happened just after midnight.
Police got a call for a domestic situation and when they arrived they found a woman fighting with her son, Amonte Carter.
Police told Acton News Jax Carter doesn’t live in the neighborhood.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the 28-year-old was visiting family from Atlanta, Georgia.
When police arrived they said he was naked and had a shotgun and gas canister in hand.
“He said to them he’s going to burn down the house. They tried to deescalate him. He then ran inside the house and barricaded himself,” said Brian Kee, an assistant Chief with JSO.
Officers said the suspect fired three shots inside the home while the SWAT team attempted to negotiate with him.
Around 6:20 a.m. the suspect came to the front door with the shotgun and shots were exchanged.
The first officer involved in the shooting is Paul Cross, an 11-year veteran with JSO.
This is his first officer-involved shooting.

The second officer involved was Lee McCranie. He’s been with JSO for 21 years and this is his second officer-involved shooting.
No one was hurt when the shots were fired and Carter surrendered shortly after.
Franklin said he was stunned to see all of this unfold in his normally quiet neighborhood.
“This is a whole new level of craziness right here, we haven’t had anything like this happen,” he said.
Carter is currently in jail facing multiple charges.
The officers involved in this shooting were not wearing body cameras.
Both have been placed on administrative leave per standard protocol.
Police Involved Incident Update Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Assistant Chief Brian Kee spoke this morning regarding an officer involved shooting that occurred in the area of 1100 Kendall Drive. The officers and the suspect are not injured. The suspect has been arrested and charged with criminal mischief, open carrying a firearm, making threats, resisting an officer without violence, and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
