Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Downtown Jacksonville was designated as the primary location for the Republican National Convention. Thursday, the RNC host committee confirmed outdoor venues like TIAA Bank Field and 121 Financial Ballpark will also host some events.
The event is drawing some criticism. Doctors from around Florida sent letters to Governor Ron DeSantis and Mayor Lenny Curry asking the event be postponed or downsized because of Covid-19 concerns. And Thursday, a lawsuit was filed against the City of Jacksonville demanding organizers guarantee safety measures like mandatory masks and physical distancing.
The Republican National Convention is scheduled to begin August 24th.
