GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating a body found along Jekyll Creek Monday afternoon.
The GBI said a fisherman discovered the 19-year-old’s body and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources responded.

“That’s when all the troopers, fire, emergency medical services and game wardens started pulling up,” Powell Allen said. He was at the public boat ramp near where the body was found and spoke to the fisherman. “He paddled over to retrieve what he thought was a bag of trash — found it to be a body and called 911 immediately.”
An autopsy revealed the victim was Fitzjerold Mickover Jean-Baptiste and suffered from a gunshot wound.
At this point, the GBI said it is an active death investigation and the department has not announced whether foul play is suspected.
According to investigators, Jean-Baptiste is from Central Islip, NY, which is in Long Island. The teen had recently moved to the Jacksonville.
