New weekly COVID-19 data by the FDOH shows more than 125,000 new cases

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health released its weekly COVID-19 data and the numbers are staggering.

According to the report, 125,201 new COVID-19 cases were reported this week. This is a sharp increase from the week before when 29,519 cases were reported.

The new case positivity is up to 13.8%.

Duval County shows a new case positivity rate of 9.1% which is double what it was last week.

With the steady increase in numbers, the Duval County Department of Health is encouraging people to continue to get vaccinated. They expect the ‘greatest’ COVID-19 surge in the coming months.

The FDOH report shows the number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered has slightly increased from the previous week at 506,608.
