Person dead after shooting at Fort Eisenhower in Georgia

GEORGIA — Fort Eisenhower, a U.S. Army installation in east Georgia, was on lockdown for an hour on Saturday morning because of a deadly shooting.

Officials said a person was shot and killed in on-post housing.

No information about the victim has been released yet.

Officials said the shooter has been apprehended, and this appears to be an isolated incident.

The installation posted the original lockdown message on its social media pages at 8:51 a.m.

The post told those “in danger” to “take appropriate action.”

About an hour later, an all-clear message was posted.

It read, “The dangerous event has passed. All personnel can resume normal operations at this time.”
