Pfizer? Johnson & Johnson? Take your pick at three Jacksonville COVID vaccination sites

Jacksonville, Fla. — This is a developing story. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

On Saturday morning Jacksonville’s Gateway Mall, the federally-run COVID-19 vaccination site, as well as Normandy Community Center and Hammond Senior Center, will begin offering the highly awaited Johnson & Johnson vaccine in addition to Pfizer.

A FEMA spokesperson tells Action News Jax those eligible for a vaccine can choose which one they wish to take.

Following a federal order from the Biden administration this week all child care and school staff regardless of age can be vaccinated at any of Florida’s four FEMA locations.

Beginning March 4, eligible residents include:

  • Long-term care facility residents and staff;
  • Persons 65 years of age and older;
  • Persons under 65 deemed medically vulnerable by a physician
  • Health care personnel with direct patient contact;
  • K-12 school employees
  • Daycare providers/staff
  • Sworn law enforcement officers 50 years of age and older; and
  • Firefighters 50 years of age and older

An appointment is not required but qualifying individuals are encouraged to preregister at myvaccine.fl.gov or by calling 866-200-3762.

If you are extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 and would like to get vaccinated, your doctor will need to sign this form.

The FEMA is open daily from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. and no appointment is necessary.
