ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. —
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office says it has a star on its hands after one of its own successfully tracked down a missing person.
Except this star has paws.
This week K9 Star, along with handler Deputy Cooper, was assisting patrol units in the search for a missing person with autism who was last seen running into a wooded area of St. Augustine.
Dep. Cooper deployed K9 Star, a scent discriminate bloodhound, from the patrol vehicle and walked her to the area where the person was last seen.
SJSO says after receiving a command to “find it,” K9 Star immediately began trailing the missing person.
Star located the missing person sitting on the grounds in the woods in just 6 minutes.
The Sheriff’s Office said the situation could have had ended far differently due to unfavorable weather conditions if not for the quick response by K9 Star and Deputy Cooper.
