Fans of The PLAYERS Championship will have something to be excited about.
The tournament will be back this year March 11 through the 14 with some changes in place because of the pandemic, including new measures in place so fans can have a safer experience.
Landscapers at TPC Sawgrass were busy planting flowers and getting ready for this year’s championship on Monday.
On Tuesday, tickets will go on sale to the general public and it’s expected to go fast since there’s only a 20% capacity for fans.
Jared Rice, the Executive Director of the Players, told Action News Jax one of the biggest changes is all tickets need to be purchased online as well as parking passes.
“Digital parking is just one additional step we’re taking in terms of contactless environment this year. For parking to tickets to food and beverage purchase, there will be no cash. It’s all contactless so that’s one more step we’re taking in terms of delivering the tournament the safest way we can,” Rice said.
He said fans who attend need to follow the 3 W’s. That’s wear a mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance.
Face mask will be required at all times whether your indoors or outside.
Presale tickets sold out in one day at the beginning of the month.
Last year the tournament was canceled in mid-March because of the pandemic.
This year, there will not be a military appreciation concert but for military members who are active duty, retired or reserve.
There will be a limited number of free tickets on Tuesday and Wednesday.
You’ll have to go onto The PLAYERS website and click on the military tab to sign up.
Rice said on Tuesday and Wednesday, up to two children ages 15 and under will be allowed to come to The PLAYERS for free if they are with a ticketed adult.
“That’s been a program that we feel very strongly about in terms of diversifying our audience and bringing in young fans, that’s what we want to do, we love to have young people out at the tournament,” Rice said.
Tickets go on sale Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. You can click here to purchase tickets.
