JACKSONVILLE Fla — Overnight The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported 4 deadly crashes. One of those crashes is being investigated for speed and impairment.

“Reckless driving is part of it, more cars on the road now,” says Renee.

Renee has lived on McDuff Avenue for the last 2 years and says there’s a lot of traffic in the area.

“It’s mostly semi-traffic through the neighborhoods when there’s a main road right up the street,” says Renee.

And right up the street on McDuff Avenue is where JSO says an SUV heading northbound crashed into a parked semi-truck and trailer in the shared center turn lane. JSO is looking at possible impairment and speed.

“The driver of the SUV, an adult male unfortunately died from his injuries here at the scene,” says Sgt. Robert Peck, JSO Traffic & Homicide Unit.

There was no one else in the car.

Action News Jax has learned, the parked semi-truck & trailer had its head and parking lights on at the time of the crash and that the semi was also unoccupied at the time of the crash.

“Unfortunately, it’s a tragic night in Duval county to have that many,” says Sgt. Robert Peck, JSO Traffic & Homicide Unit.
