UPDATE: Missing teen with autism found dead on Jekyll Island

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. — UPDATE 3:30 p.m.: The Camden County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the body of Connor Mathis has been found.

Action News Jax has a crew on Jekyll Island.

ORIGINAL STORY: Brunswick PD has put out a missing child alert for 16-year-old Conner Mathis. Georgia State Patrol and Jekyll Island Fire Department have been looking since Monday. He was last seen at Camp Jekyll.

Conner is high-functioning autistic and is described as being of African American descent, has short hair and wears braces. He stands at 5 feet, six inches and weighs 140 pounds. Police believe he could be wearing red shorts with a black T-shirt.

GSP is asking residents to check around their homes, as it believes Conner may be afraid, confused and looking for shelter.

Anyone with information that can assist in helping locate Conner is asked to call 911. Callers should let the dispatcher know that they have information on the missing child from Camp Jekyll.
