WOODBINE, Ga. — Family and friends of a woman killed in a deputy-involved shooting held a vigil for her Friday in Woodbine.
37-year-old Latoya Denise James died Tuesday, investigators reported.
Mack Knight is a pastor at James’ family’s church.
He’d known her for most of her life.
”We grew up together, next door to each other... very fun, energetic, life of the party,” Knight added.” Knight said of James.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said she was shot by a Camden County Deputy during a drug-related search warrant at a home in Woodbine.
Investigators report an exchange of gunfire between deputies and someone inside the home.
46-year-old Varshawn Lamont Brown was hurt in the shootout; James was killed.”Very devastating, a horrific way to die, an innocent bystander shot and killed by the hands of police,” Knight added.
The family still has a lot of questions surrounding the events that led up to her death.
They say they want justice.
Knight tells Action News Jax the family has a lawyer and plans to take legal action.
