Jacksonville man, woman shot at on I-95 while surrounded by motorcycles in apparent road rage attack

The couple was in Flagler County for Bike Week festivities in Ormond Beach when the shooting happened.

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — A Jacksonville man and woman who were in Ormond Beach for Bike Week festivities told deputies they were shot at on Interstate 95 after being surrounded by motorcycles, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

FCSO is calling the shooting, which happened around 9:15 p.m. Saturday night, an apparent road rage incident.

Deputies said at some point shots were fired into a Dodge Challenger, hitting the driver several times. His passenger, the woman, who was in the front seat, was not injured, according to an FCSO case report.

“I just got shot,” one of the victims could be heard saying in the 911 call. “I just got shot.”

After the shooting, the group of motorcycle riders continued north on I-95, deputies said.

On the 911 call, one of the victims told the emergency dispatcher that they were near exit 293 on I-95 and were working to get away from the people they said were surrounding them.

“We’re trying to get away from these people,” the victim told the dispatcher.

According to an FCSO case report, deputies responded to the area of Matanzas Woods Parkway and Old Kings Road and found a man in the Dodge Challenger with gunshot wounds on his right arm and graze wounds on his left arm.

A deputy lifted the driver’s arm and saw a bronze object fall to the ground consistent with a bullet, the report detailed.

The woman told deputies that in addition to the bikers, she also observed a gray Ford Expedition at the time the shooting took place.

The woman also told investigators that the driver had possibly “cut the bikers off,” according to the FCSO report.

The driver was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center where police said he had non-life-threatening injuries.

The report also shows that the person responsible could be facing 2 felonies, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

On Monday Action News Jax spoke to the driver who was shot. He said he is feeling great but did not wish to speak publicly.
