ATLANTA — A huge electric bus investment is coming to the Atlanta Public Schools system.

On Tuesday, Congresswoman Nikema Williams and Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lisa Herring announced a $9.9 million federal investment in Atlanta Public Schools.
It is part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s $5 billion clean school bus program.

The money will be used to cut pollution and bolster the district’s public school transit system.
“That, as we’ve shared, allows us to purchase 25 electric school buses,” Herring said. “To install the necessary charging infrastructure.”
Atlanta is one of only 389 school districts in the nation and just 15 in Georgia that will be selected for this program.
