“There will be a spurt, and it will be picked up. And all of sudden, it’s just dropped off,” one neighbor said.
Action News Jax knocked on nearly 20 doors in the area, and just about all said there are inconsistent pickups for yard waste and recycling.
One woman didn’t want to be identified but said the waste has been sitting out between two to three weeks and turning color.
“It’s piled up and brown,” she said.
From Ardsley Road to San Jose, you can’t drive too far without seeing bags of yard waste. One neighbor told us his massive pile has been sitting outside for three weeks, and nothing has been done.
Our previous investigation unveiled the city of Jacksonville is paying city employees overtime who volunteer to help pick up missed collections.
Action News Jax asked the city how much money has been spent on those overtime hours, as well as how many hours have been worked from each department.
It acknowledged the request but said it wouldn’t be able to provide information by our deadline.
However, it did say it is preparing a report for the City Council in the following weeks.
The woman we spoke with said it’s become unacceptable.

Several neighbors said they hope pickups can stick to a schedule and that the problem will be fixed soon.
