JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Four Seasons hotel, a football performance center and eventually, a renovated stadium, are among the Jacksonville Jaguars’ new plans for downtown development that were announced Thursday.
Previously, the team went through a years long effort to develop Lot J near TIAA Bank Field, a effort that eventually ended after the Jacksonville City Council did not green light the $450 million project.
Jaguars President Mark Lamping said they have learned from that, saying that “we could have done a better job of getting involved in the narrative,” when trying to get the Lot J project off the ground.
The project will be broken up into two phases. The first phase, which is estimated to cost $441 million, will include:
· A Four Seasons hotel with 176 rooms and 25 residential units, set to open in 2025
· A football performance center set to open in 2023 that will be built next to Gate 2 of TIAA Bank Field. The team said construction of this facility will allow stadium renovations to move forward
· Renovation of the city-owned marina, which will include the building of a 6,500 square foot marina support building
· An office building that will include 116,000 square feet of leasable space and 16,000 square feet of retail and café space. Jaguars business operations will eventually move to this building
Buildings planned for Phase 2 include:
· A 42,000 square foot orthopedic sports medicine complex planned by Baptist Health and Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute
· 15,000 square feet of retail space and a parking structure with more than 200 spaces
