ORIGINAL STORY:

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is working now to figure out how a man died Sunday morning on the Southside.

At first, officers were called to the Ceil Apartments on Skyway Drive at 2:20 a.m. to respond to a traffic crash.

When they arrived, they found a man lying outside of a car. He was unresponsive and was taken to the hospital, where he died.

A doctor realized the man’s injuries were not consistent with a traffic crash and the investigation was turned over to JSO’s homicide team.

Detectives suspected foul play, and they say someone reported hearing shots fired in the area. Later, it was determined that the man was shot.
