JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An altercation at a Westside strip club left one man dead and another shot in the face, police said.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting, which was reported early Wednesday morning at the Silver Fox on Beaver Street.
Police said a man was shot and killed, and another was shot in the face and is hospitalized in serious condition.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the victim, a man who is believed to be in his 20s, was found dead in the parking lot after people inside the building heard gunshots. It is believed that the man who was shot and killed was trying to stop the altercation that led to the shooting.
The incident is believed to have happened after about five men were kicked out of the club for fighting.
Police are expected to interview about 20 to 30 witnesses. JSO closed Beaver Street in both directions between Melson and Erie avenues due to the ongoing investigation.
Officers were seen investigating a vehicle, which the victim’s brother said is a rental car.
There is no suspect information at this time in the investigation.
The victim’s sister, Keisha Brown, said she drove to Jacksonville overnight after receiving the news of her brother’s death. She identified the victim as Marlon Brice.
Brice had two young children, said Brown.
