CALLAHAN, Fla. — A woman was killed and another woman was injured in a two-car crash Friday morning in Callahan.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. on Pine Breeze Circle and U.S. 1, slightly south of downtown Callahan. The area was blocked off for hours as investigators collected evidence and worked to clear the road.

Debris was scattered on U.S. 1, air bags in both cars were deployed and a 2011 Chevy Cruze was severely smashed on the driver’s side.
Troopers said the 59-year-old woman driving a Chevrolet Cruze was on Pine Breeze Circle and pulled out onto U.S. 1 and struck a Kia Forte.
The 48-year-old woman driving the Kia T-boned the Cruz, troopers said. Authorities said the Cruze was T-boned so hard the door was smashed in about 15 inches.
The driver of the Cruz wasn't wearing a seat belt died at the scene, authorities said. Her name hasn’t been released as troopers are working on notifying her family.
Law enforcement said the driver of the Kia was 48-year-old Michele Martin. She was taken to UF Health Jacksonville for treatment of serious injuries.
FHP said they investigating if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The crash is still under investigation and charges are pending.
