JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 22-year-old man faces charges after authorities said he shot at a vehicle at the Florida State College at Jacksonville Deerwood campus.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested Maxwell Martin early Friday morning and charged him with two counts of attempted murder and one count of throwing or shooting deadly missiles into a dwelling.

Officers responded Thursday night to the shooting on the campus.

A man and a woman were in a vehicle when Martin walked around the vehicle with a gun in his hand, JSO said. The suspect fired a shot at the rear of the vehicle, hitting the man, police said.

The man was injured in the arm. JSO said his injuries were not life-threatening.

Police arrested Martin in the parking lot of his apartment complex. JSO said police received consent to search the apartment, where officers found a gun.

The woman positively identified Martin as the gunman, JSO said.
