3 injured in ‘active shooter incident’ in Woodbine, ‘no ongoing threat to the public,’ deputies say

WOODBINE, Ga. — Three people were injured Wednesday in an “active shooter incident in Camden County,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Deputies responded to Kinlaw and Harrietts Bluff roads in Woodbine at 4:21 p.m., the release said.

The three people who were wounded have been taken to the hospital. CCSO said.

The area is secured by law enforcement and there is “no ongoing threat to the public,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

CCSO said it is turning the investigation over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

GBI said this is being investigated as a deputy-involved incident and said more information would be released Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

“We understand the concern this incident has caused in our community,” Camden County Sheriff Kevin Chaney said in the news release. “Our thoughts are with the victims and their families.”

CCSO is asking people to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
