86-year-old driver killed in Suwannee County crash

SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. — A woman is dead following a crash at SR 247 and CR 137 Sunday in Suwannee County. The 86-year-0ld Suwannee woman was traveling northbound on CR 137 at about 7:15 p.m. and was stopped at a stop sign, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

She failed to yield to traffic on SR 247 and attempted to make a left turn, the news release states. The woman’s vehicle was hit by a van driven by a 35-year-old Suwannee woman. She received minor injuries. There were six occupants in the van. They were taken to Lake City Medical Center for evaluation. The 86-year-old woman was taken to a Gainesville hospital where she was pronounced dead, the news release states.
