The Alachua Sheriff's Office is recommending battery charges against a deputy.
The sheriff's office has recommended that Deputy Dominic Bevilacqua be charged with one count of battery.
The charge stems from a Sept. 29 call about a suspicious person on Northeast State Road 26, during which Bevilacqua used physical force on the person.
Bevilacqua was placed on administrative leave Sept. 30 as the sheriff's office reviewed video and photos from the case.
Detectives delivered a sworn complaint to the State Attorney's Office on Tuesday, recommending the battery charge.
Bevilacqua was hired in January 2012 and worked in the patrol operations division.
