MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — The Clay County Sheriff's Office is seeking a truck that struck a deputy's marked vehicle head on and eventually fled the scene.

The crash happened around 8:15 p.m. near County Road 218 and Blanding Boulevard, according to CCSO.

Authorites say the deputy's life was saved by airbag deployment. A search is ongoing for a two-tone Ford 250 with a chrome brush guard in the front. It likely has front-end damage.

According to an FHP report, the truck was in the left turn lane on Blanding attempting to make a left turn on CR 218 when it turned left into the path of the deputy's vehicle.

After the crash, CCSO said the truck pulled into a nearby CVS parking lot and then fled. The deputy, identified in the FHP report as Matthew Magish, was transported to St. Vincent's in Clay County with non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with any information about the truck is asked to call 911.
