‘So, when I was diagnosed a year ago, I met with Dr. Crozier who was my primary oncologist,’ says Jackson.

One year ago, Jackson was battling breast cancer.

She enrolled in this program not knowing what the outcome might be.

‘When I was receiving chemotherapy, it was 5 months I was receiving that weekly and then every other week. Now that I am just getting the research trial drug it’s every 3 weeks for a total of 27 weeks,’ says Jackson.

According to Dr. Jennifer Crozier, these trials help them learn more about how to attack tumors and cancer cells.

‘We have an immunotherapy clinical trial. Where we are using the patient’s, own immune system harnessing it to fight cancer cells, in addition to chemotherapy,’ says Crozier.

Crozier is hopeful that this new technology can eventually do away with chemotherapy for her patients.

Jackson is now breast cancer free, and received that same treatment.

She says she isn’t sure if the clinical trials alone led to her breast cancer remission, but she is convinced it played a part.

‘The last year has been very rough, but right now I feel great. I’ve just had surgery. I’ve just had radiation, so I am officially cancer-free as of today,’ says Jackson.

Jackson says for anyone who is fighting breast cancer to always stay positive.
