BCU president urges students to be open-minded regarding DeVos

Bethune-Cookman University is facing backlash after the school announced the U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos will deliver the 2017 commencement speech during the university's spring graduation ceremony next week.

Edison O. Jackson, president of the university located in Daytona, released

yesterday after receiving criticism from many students and alumni regarding the choice.

Part of the criticism stems from DeVos' comments in February when she acknowledged Historically Black College and University's as pioneers of school choice.
