JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office found human remains inside a Southside home Thursday after receiving a tip.

The Medical Examiner’s Office removed the body from the property on Bowden Circle East. The owner of the property has been in jail since May of last year.

The house belongs to 54-year-old Russell David Tillis. He’s awaiting his next court date on charges of aggravated assault and simple battery on a law enforcement officer.

The home was roped off while crime scene technicians worked on the property. According to neighbors, police have been at the home for at least two days.

JSO is not releasing information about who they found dead at the home or what led to that person’s death.

This was one former neighbor’s reaction when we asked if she was relieved Tillis doesn’t live there anymore:

“Yes! And I hope he never comes back. He’s the devil reincarnated,” said Patricia Lashley.

According to Lashley, at least one of Tillis’ neighbors filed a restraining order against him.
