BRUNSWICK, Fla. — Nichole Fiveash works at Daddy Cate’s, a local coffee shop that’s been in business for 20 years.
Her tiny town of Brunswick has been in the national spotlight for one of the biggest murder trials in Georgia history.
It has brought hundreds of new faces each day into this little coffee shop over the last month. `
“I think we have like maybe six muffins left for the day and we always start with at least two dozen muffins,” Fiveash said.
Fiveash has worked there for 7 years and while she appreciates all the new business, she wishes it wasn’t because 25-year-old Ahmaud Arbery lost his life last year.
Yes, it’s nice to have a lot of people in town but not for this reason. I want people to come to Brunswick because Brunswick is a great place not because I’m interested in the things that’s going on in the courthouse in Brunswick,” she said.
Fiveash said no matter what the jury decides she hopes the community can move forward peacefully.
“I hope we just realize that we need to stand together so nothing like this happens again,” Fiveash said.
