KETSTONE HEIGHTS, Fla. — The Florida Forest Service said lightning could have caused a fast spreading wildfire in Clay County.  They said at one time the Trawick Fire threatened at least a dozen homes.

Thursday night, the FFS declared it was 100-percent contained after burning nearly 30 acres near Lisa Lynn Lane in Keystone Heights.

“It was kind of like shooting flames,” said Abby Cosby, who lives in the area.

Cosby spoke with firefighters to stay informed and safe.

“They said it should be OK, but if it jumps over Lisa Lane, then we all have to evacuate,” Cosby said.  “It’s a little scary.  We’re surrounded by forest and it’s very dry and hot.”

Chuck Phillips lives less than a half-mile away.

“I saw some smoke when I got home from work, and we ran over here and they’re not letting anyone through,” Phillips said.

Fire crews got the call around 5 p.m. Thursday and had the fire 100-percent contained about three hours later.

Still, there was concern from area families Thursday night, especially those with outdoor animals.

“There’s a lot of people with horses, too, so they’re asking, ‘Hey do we have to go?” Cosby said.  “Because that’s a lot to move.”

To give you an idea of how dry it is in that area, the FFS said this may have started by a lightning strike from Tuesday that just continued to smolder.
