City of Jacksonville provides updates on winter storm responses

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The City of Jacksonville (COJ) has provided an update on it’s winter storm response after a day of wintry precipitation.

Warming Centers

The COJ will continue to offer its free Warming Center services. See below for available and open centers:

Daytime (Wednesday through 9 p.m.)

The Legends Center

Overnight (Wednesday-Friday, 9 p.m.-9 a.m.)

The Legends Center

Daytime (Thursday-Saturday, Normal Business Hours)

Road Safety

Per hazardous road conditions, citizens are highly encouraged and urged to remain home and stay off main roads.

As of 10:48 a.m., The Hart and Mathews Bridge is currently closed for icy conditions as the Florida Department of transportation works to de-ice the road. Stay alert to Action News Jax for their reopening.

JTA

Per the Jacksonville Transportation Authority:

  • Bus and ferry services are back up and operational through the JTA.
  • The Skyway will reopen at 11 a.m., as freezing rain remains safe.
  • JTA will continue to offer free shuttle transportation to the Warming Centers

JIA

The Jacksonville International Airport plans on reopening at noon on Wednesday. Travelers are encouraged to stay up to date with their airlines for perspective flight status.
