The city of Jacksonville has issued tens of thousands of dollars in fines to local trash companies for violating contracts.
The city subcontracts three private companies for trash collection: Advanced Disposal Services, Republic Services (formerly Southland Waste Systems) and Waste Pro USA.
Between the three companies, they have been fined more than $132,000.

According to the city, Republic Service is facing the biggest fine at $108,335. The trash company services the Northside and Arlington areas.
Waste Pro, which services the south and southeast, received $21,000 in fines.
The other company, Advanced Disposal Services, which services the southwest area of Jacksonville, has racked up $3,050 in fines.
In August, an Action News Jax investigation uncovered the city has received 42,036 complaints so far this year.
