Now that the City of Jacksonville is taking ownership of the Jacksonville Landing, Mayor Lenny Curry says the city will help tenants relocate.

The mayor's chief of staff, Brian Hughes, told Action News Jax on Wednesday they are taking inventory to see who would like to stay in the downtown area and what space is available.
In the meantime, wheels are already in motion to eventually demolish the structure and leaders hope that in the future visitors will be able to see the river from downtown.

As of Wednesday, the city has 45 days to officially transition to the new owners of the Jacksonville Landing.
Hughes said he’s confident the transition won’t take that long.

"If they're a vibrant and successful retailer and they wanna stay downtown we're going to do everything we can to keep them here," said Hughes.
City leaders expect demolition to start in the next six months.

Hughes says the city is open to other ideas for the space.
