City officials respond to the death of former city leader Sam Mousa

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Sam Mousa has died at age 72, and local officials have begun sending out condolences and tributes to the former city official.

Current Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan recalls Mousa’s five decades of service to Jacksonville, as well as calls for the city to continue flags at half mast after the passing of President Jimmy Carter

Former Jacksonville mayor Lenny Curry remembers Mousa as ‘not just a friend and mentor but also a big brother’.

City Councilmen Ron Salem regards his cousins ‘ability to navigate the complexities of government with wisdom and grace’

The Jacksonville Transit Authority recalls the guidance and work that Mousa provided for projects within the organization.

JEA followed up with Mayor Deegans initial comments, sending their condolences.
