Clay County Traffic Deputy Ben Zirbel is critically hurt after he was involved in a crash on his patrol motorcycle on Blanding Boulevard, officials said.

Officials said the crash involved two other vehicles.

Troopers are investigating the crash at Camp Francis Johnson Road.

The release states that two other drivers were involved in the crash, Stephen Schioppa, 35, of Orange Park driving a 2011 Dodge Ram, and Erin Taylor, 43, of Middleburg, driving a 2012 Ford Mustang.

According to the report, Schioppa was turning left onto Camp Francis Johnson Road from Blanding Boulevard in his truck while towing a trailer.

The report says he violated Zirbel's right of way, who was traveling the opposite direction on Blanding Boulevard.

Zirbel's motorcycle struck the right side of Schioppa's trailer and overturned, ejecting him, the report says.

Taylor's Mustang, the third vehicle involved, was struck by debris from the crash, the report says.
