Zirbel died on Aug. 21, two days after a motorcycle crash. He leaves behind a wife and an 8-year-old son.

His widow Anna is asking the community to register to become an organ donor. His tissue could possibly help 100 people, Anna Zirbel said.

“Ben’s passion in life was to help people,” Anna Zirbel said. “If there’s one message to come from this, I wish everyone would become a registered organ donor. Even now, in the midst of our most painful grief, I am happy to say that Ben is still helping people.”
