CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — An 11-year-old from Clay County was arrested on Monday for threatening to “shoot up a school,” according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the fourth-grader attended Discovery Oaks Elementary.

According to a news release, the student was part of an online group chat with at least eight other students. On Nov. 25, he became angry about the “group’s social interaction” and posted that he would “shoot up a school.”
The post circulated between students until an uninvolved parent reported it to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.
CCSO interviewed all involved parties and searched the student’s phone.

According to the news release, the 11-year-old has a previous incident of threatening violence that was investigated in 2023.
He was arrested and charged with written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism.
