CLAY COUNTY, Fla — Clay County caregiver, Valerie Todd, was arrested by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and Attorney General Ashley Moody’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit Wednesday for allegedly submitting fraudulent service logs to her employer.
According to a release put out by the attorney general, while employed at Superior Senior & Disabled Care, Todd received payments from the company and the Medicaid program for services she did not provide.
Superior Senior & Disabled Care provides home care services for elderly and disabled adults.
Investigators with the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit received information regarding the alleged theft from the Florida Department of Children and Families’ Adult Protective Services Program, according to the release.
Moody said, “This behavior is unacceptable, and my Medicaid Fraud Control Unit will not tolerate deceitful actions that hurt the integrity of the Medicaid program and cause mistrust of home care providers that take care of some of our most vulnerable Floridians.”
According to the attorney general’s office, Todd faces one count of grand theft, a third-degree felony, and up to five years in Florida State Prison. The attorney general’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit will prosecute the case through an agreement with the state attorney’s office for the 4th Judicial Circuit.
