JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police said a fire ignited inside a Lake Forest home while officers were investigating a body found inside.

Sgt. Dan Janson said it was too early to determine whether foul play was involved in the man’s death or if the fire was set intentionally.

Emotions were high at the scene as family members rushed to the caution tape, desperate for answers.

JSO said that before the fire, a man reported his father, Climart Moses, dead inside the home.

"He had been there for several days, so there was a certain amount of decomposition that was occurring," said Janson.

While the son was talking to investigators at the house, a fire ignited inside.

“There’s going to be a lot of smoke damage and fire damage. I can’t say if there was evidence destroyed or not because we hadn’t had the opportunity to actually get in the house and do any kind of search,” said Janson.

Investigators used a K-9 at the house Monday afternoon.

State Attorney Angela Corey was also there talking to investigators.

Moses’ son declined to comment about what happened.

Janson said Moses’ son told officers his father had multiple health problems.
