Interstate 95 in Jacksonville was shut down in one direction Thursday morning after a 45-year-old man was hit by several cars while standing in the roadway near the Dunn Avenue exit.
An officer told Action News Jax that it was the worst crash she's seen in 21 years.
All northbound lanes were closed beginning around 5:15 a.m. after the man was hit.

Troopers said they do not know why the man was in the center lane of the roadway. Sgt. Dylan Bryan said it's unclear how many cars hit the man.
Action News Jax is working to learn more about the crash and the man who died.
Officials investigated a second deadly crash involving a pedestrian in Jacksonville Thursday morning.
Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a 52-year-old woman was standing in the street outside her home on Kinlock Drive when she was hit by an 82-year-old driver.
The driver will not face charges, JSO said.
