Jacksonville got slammed by heavy rain and lightning as a storm system that caused several fatalities in other states moved through our area.

More than 2,900 JEA customers were without power at one point as heavy rain and storms moved east across Northeast Florida.

Someone was taken to the hospital after lightning sparked a house fire on Otterspool Lane in Jacksonville.

A tree fell across Bryson Drive near Jeff Davis Middle School in Jacksonville. Crews have not yet cleared it.

Several counties were under severe thunderstorm and flood warnings because of the storms.

Storms began to taper off by late morning.

The afternoon will be mostly cloudy and muggy with scattered afternoon showers.
